VR Chess (2021)

VR Chess brings the classic game of chess into an immersive, life-sized virtual space. Walk around the board, physically pick up and move pieces, and strategize in 3D like never before. Designed to make chess feel tactile, ambient, and architectural.

Gameplay Overview

  • Full-sized 3D chess pieces and chessboard modelled in Blender
  • Use hand gesture in VR headset to grab and move pieces without a controller



Experimentation Challenges

Quest had just published their hand tracking without the need of a controller. The challenge here is to implement hand gesture instead of buttons on controller at the time.
